These are fairly large breeds that are mild tempered but need a lot of space to relax and play around. As for milk supply, these breeds give a very high supply of 2-3 gallons a day and an average of 1.5 gallons which is a little low on butterfat content.
We breed our dairy goats annually, and are first come first serve for reservations.
The Saanen originates in the historic region of Saanen (French: Comté de Gessenay) and in the neighbouring Simmental, both in the Bernese Oberland, in the southern part of the Canton of Bern, in western Switzerland.
Because of its high productivity, the Saanen has since the nineteenth century been exported to many countries of the world.
The Saanen is reported from more than eighty countries. The total world population is reported to be over 900,000 head.
Of these, some 14,000 are in Switzerland
